- How to Make Wired Flower Crown
Materials:
- floral tape
- floral wire
- wire cutters
- sunflowers (real or fake ones)
- greenery
Procedure:
- Cut a piece of floral wire and bend it into a circle. Place it on your head to check the length of wire you need to make a loose the crown will fit your head. Snip extra wire with the wire cutters, and bend the wire into a complete circle. Use floral tape to bind the end of the circle. You have to wrap the floral tape around the circle end many times to make it solid.
- If you are thinking of wearing the crown to a special event like a graduation, remember to check how it will fit on your hair with the likely hairstyle. The way you style your hair will determine how the crown will fit your head.
- Buy flower supplies or gather sunflowers and greenery from your garden. Choose any greens that will suit your personality and the type of crown you are creating. For a delicate effect, use mild greenery such as ivy and myrtle.
- If you will be making a full crown, fuller greens such as dusty miller and leather leaf are much better. Start by covering the wire structure with a layer of nice greens to form the base of the crown. To achieve this, trim the stem of the greenery to medium length, add onto the wire and hold it in place with floral tape.
- After tapping the greenery to the crown, it is time to start adding the sunflowers. To ensure that the stems of the sunflowers are 3.5 inches long, measure and cut off excess stems with wire cutters or knife.
- Proceed to add them to the crown with the floral tape as you did with the greenery. To keep the stems in place, wrap them with tape several times.
- You can choose to make a half-crown by adding the sunflowers only to the front part of the crown or make a full floral crown by adding the flowers around the whole crown.
- If you used real sunflowers, keep the flower crown in the fridge to let it stay fresh for longer. This means you can make it in advance especially if you won’t have time to start making the flower crowns on the D-day for the event. Just make sure you keep it a safe corner in your fridge where it won’t get crushed. Spray water on the flowers prior to wearing the crown to refresh the flowers.
- How to Make Braided Flower Crown
Materials:
- floral tape
- floral wire
- wire cutters
- sunflowers (real or fake ones)
Procedure:
- Use wire cutters to snip the stems of the flowers so that the length is the same. Remove any remaining leaves. This will remove unnecessary bulk and make it easier to braid the flowers.
- Fill a bowl with cool water and put the sunflowers in it. The idea is to enable your flowers to stay fresh while you are working. It takes time to make braided crowns, and the sunflowers might start wilting before you start to use them.
- Use a piece of floral wire to loosely bind 3 flowers together. Roll the wire around the stem 3- 4 times, and snip off any excess. Try to wrap the wire around the stem close to the flowers to ensure that all of them are on the same level. The crown will appear wonky if one flower seems higher than others. The wire will keep the flowers in place as you braid the stem. You can use thread or rubber bands if you do not have any floral wire handy.
- Start braiding the stems together. Turn the stems on the right to the middle and do the same thing for the left stems till your braid is over 1.5 inches long.
- Put a flower on the left side of the stem. The flower should be sitting just over the previous ones that have been braided.
- Turn the two stems over with the goal that they end up between the middle and right stems. They will be considered as one stem so hold them together.
- Put a flower on the right side of the stem. The flower should be sitting just over the previous ones that have been braided.
- Turn the two stems over with the goal that they end up between the middle and left stems. They will be considered as one thick stem so hold them together.
- Keep doing step 5 – 8 until you reach your desired length. The area that you are busy plaiting will grow bigger as you add more flowers. To add beauty, texture, and color, try utilizing different kinds of blossoms. Feel free to add in a couple of grasses, vines, or leaves.
- Quit braiding when it is wide enough. You need the garland to be somewhat wide since you will be joining the 2 ends. In order to make the crown more sturdy.
- Fold the wire over the 2 garland ends a couple of times, and clip off any excess wire with wire cutters. This will help to keep the flowers intact and prevent unraveling.
- Bring the two ends together. Try it on to get the best fit when you overlap the ends. Take off the crown while holding the overlapped ends.
- Hold the ends together by wrapping them with wire. When you go over a blossom, string the wire underneath the flower. You only have to bind the stems together. When the crown is sturdy, cut off any extra wire. Tuck the two wire ends into the weaved stems.
Conclusion
Use as little or as many flowers as you like. Sincerely, there is nothing wrong with how you want to make your flower crown. It totally depends on the hairstyle that you want to wear the crown with, the occasion you are having and the supplies that are available to you. Since practice makes perfect, there are no better ways to make beautiful flower crowns than by making them often.
